How do we collect your information?

  • Open an account or deposit money
  • Pay your bills or apply for a loan
  • Use your credit or debit card
  • We may also collect it from credit bureaus, affiliates, or other companies

Why can’t I limit all sharing?

Federal law only gives you the right to limit:

  • Sharing for affiliates’ everyday business purposes — creditworthiness
  • Affiliates from using your information to market to you
  • Sharing for nonaffiliates to market to you

State law and individual companies may give you additional right

Definitions:

Affiliates: Companies related by common ownership or control. Houston Highway Credit Union has no affiliates.

Nonaffiliates: Companies not related by common ownership or control. HHCU does not share with nonaffiliates so they can market to you.

Joint Marketing: A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services. HHCU’s joint marketing partners include CUNA Mutual Group’s MEMBERCONNECT.

Our Membership Agreement and Disclosures outline the terms, conditions, and responsibilities that come with being a member of our credit union. In accordance with the USA PATRIOT Act, HHCU is required to verify the identity of all members to help prevent fraud, money laundering, and terrorist financing. This federal law helps keep our financial system safe and secure for everyone.

What this means for you:

When you open an account or access certain services, we will ask for identifying information such as your name, address, date of birth, and government-issued identification.

We may also ask you to provide additional documentation to verify your identity.

This process helps us confirm you are who you say you are and protect your accounts from unauthorized access.
